A delicious, early-season apple for gardeners up North!

The Yellow Transparent Apple tree is an antique variety that originated from Russia in 1870. It’s named after the pale-yellow skin of the fruit that matched the flesh. These early-ripening apples are crisp, light and sweet.

As an heirloom, this apple tree is easy to grow. It is cold-hardy for all our gardeners up north and has shown disease resistance to scab. Enjoy these delightful yellow apples when they ripen in July through August.

When we received this little guy about 2 years ago now, it had partially broken branch. We “glued it” with honey and plant tape & now two years later it’s grown 3 feet. No fruit so far, but it looks very green & healthy. Not sure how long that takes to fruit, but I love it!

This is a tree I remember loving from childhood. We would climb it and eat apples all summer. My cousin would make apple pie. However, due to strange weather including two exceedingly hot summers which each began with a late freeze, in May, the Yellow Transparent tree I purchased did not survive.I also ordered a White Transparent, which arrived later, and that tree is doing well. I was noticing today it has blossoms!

First year tree produced copious number of apples. Had to thin them as the branches are still small. I have written a reminder to harvest them early. They were ready the first week of August, and we left them on another month. Still sweet and tasty. (We were guessing on harvest like other apples that are best after the first frost.) I look forward to another delicious crop next year.

Tree arrived in good condition with healthy foliage. I replanted it in larger pot and will put it in the ground when it goes dormant.
