A delicious, early-season apple for gardeners up North!

The Yellow Transparent Apple tree is an antique variety that originated from Russia in 1870. It’s named after the pale-yellow skin of the fruit that matched the flesh. These early-ripening apples are crisp, light and sweet.

As an heirloom, this apple tree is easy to grow. It is cold-hardy for all our gardeners up north and has shown disease resistance to scab. Enjoy these delightful yellow apples when they ripen in July through August.

I purchased the Yellow Transparent last year in April and I was shocked to get an apple the first season. I have been very pleased with the tree.

  2. Steve Felton

Even with the polar vortex and extended extreme cold this winter, a very wet spring, planted in clay based soil and only one year old this tree is thriving. Love your apple trees Stark!!

  3. David Mickelson

Planted this and put a ha d plastic tree wrap around it for the winter. All I have now are a few leaves around the bottom. Give it an ohThere couple weeks and if it doesn’t sprout…..out she comes. Chalk it up to experience.

  4. Karen Hes

Came in nice and bloomed with fruit the second year.

  5. Jeremy Kendall

The yellow transparent Apple tree grew really well all limbs put on 12-16” of new growth first year and now have 10 apples on it the second year!

This tree was on sale so I looked it up and seen it was one of the earliest ripening. It looked great and grew great for a while but had some issues and died. I actually came out ahead because this Spring Stark Bro’s replaced it with a better tree for me and my deer. Starks sent me a Redfree Apple tree that is disease resistant and early ripening. It was twice the price and Stark Bro’s sent it to me immediately with no questions asked no hassles and no extra charge. The Redfree is growing well and looks beautiful.

I purchased two of these trees LAST year. One for myself and the other for my mother. My mother has a very old one in her front yard that produces every other year without any other apple trees around.Anyhow, she planted this tree in her back yard. This spring it blossomed out and she has seven apples on it. We are all in shock. They are the same size as the ones on her larger older tree.It looked like the Charlie Brown tree with the branches bent over with these apples on it. We had to stake it and put a tomato cage around it for extra support. Her older tree makes the best fried/stewed apples! She will pick them up from ground as they fall. Peel them, slice them and blanch them in salt water then put in quart freezer bags and freeze. When she wants to prepare- place apples in a small pot with a little sugar and a few minutes they cook up. Serve with breakfast beside biscuits and gravy…Delicious!!
