Protect the tender bark of young trees.

Protect your investment from gnawing animals, sun scald and more. Our lightweight perforated plastic spirals are easy to install and last for many years. Put them on right after you plant, which is when your new tree is most vulnerable. Occasionally adjust the spiral and let it “grow” with your tree, and remove any grass that may have grown up inside it. Also take care to keep lawn equipment from hitting the guards, which can girdle the tree, a major cause of mortality. Use Stark Tree Guards along with our Tree Circles to provide protection for both the trunk and roots.

Ships in packs of 3.

Options:

  • Choose the 25 cm (10″) guard for columnar trees
  • Choose the 50 cm (20″) guard for young trees
  • Choose the 101 cm (40″) guard for larger trees

I highly recommend this product for most trees but found out that trees grafted to root stock M111 (among others) can develop burr knots (root initials) on the rootstock due to moisture being trapped behind the shield. My Granny Smith developed burr knots. Not the end of the world but it is something worth noting, and a warning that you should not use these on trees prone to burr knots.

Looks like just what I wanted but haven’t had a chance to put them on yet

I was having a hug problem with rabbits striping bark from my new trees. They literally ate everything in my yard to the ground. Even our pine trees that have been in for years. This will especially help the trees, but im not sure about the rest. This is a start though.

Love there! Makes winterizing my fruit trees so simple!

I use these on plum trees, early-blooming peach trees, and young-of-the-year fruit trees where I’m worried about sun exposure. They would be really important on espaliered trees where you have a big wall heating up the trunk of the tree. I prune in stages in mid-winter – today I’m going to prune this set of peaches, the next nice day I’m going to prune the plums, etc. – and I install these when I’m doing that work. Later, when the early season sprays start going on, I remove them. Pretty easy.

Good product easy to use and cut to size. I would recommend this product to others. I would like to see additional color uptions. JZ

  7. DAVID KOVACH

It did not cover the tree trunk due to changing diameters. Will go with solid cover with a split seam.

This protects our trees from our occasional free roaming rabbits and 75lbs Sulcata Tortoise. Tortie, the big tortoise smashed my raspberries and began cutting the bark off the trees and roses with his shell as he walks by them. This product hold up very well. I am planning to put this on all the important trees. I bought 2 packs and am buying more for my older trees.

  9. Steve Ortiz

The tree guards worked great on my trees. Seems to be keeping the animal pests away.
