I purchased the standard Reliance peach which died in 2018. For some reason, the replacement was a dwarf. I can’t complain as the dwarf Reliance has grown into a beautiful tree that has been making good peaches for the past two years now. The tree appears very healthy here in central Alabama with zero extra care. I do use Milky Spore in the ground to destroy Japanese Beetle grubs – limiting the grub and beetle population effectively.

Third year, bearing fruit, loaded with blossoms this year and abundant fruit. July 8th tried my first peach but still needs another week or so to be fully ripe. Not a big peach but abundance of fruit makes up for that. I would highly recommend this variety in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area. Can’t wait to have some peach preserves out of these.

Planted this tree and an Intrepid peach tree together in the fall of 2016. This is the first year they have put out a good crop, and I’m looking forward to many more years of delicious, tree-ripened peaches! I’m particularly impressed because we got a hard freeze in mid-May, while they were blossoming. It doesn’t seem to have impacted fruit production at all!

Having grown up in South Carolina, a prominent peach-producing state, right next to Georgia, the Peach State, I associated peaches with warmer climates. When my family moved to chilly Northwest Pennsylvania, with trepidation I ordered the cold-climate Reliance peach from Stark Bros. To put it mildly, it did not disappoint. It was an excellent specimen, robust and healthy upon delivery and within three years it was producing peaches. The flowers almost never got frost-bit. It just keeps going. We make peach preserves, pies, and (yes) peach wine, but most of all we love to eat them fresh. And you’d better want to, because I have gotten WELL in excess of 5 bushels from this tree. We feverishly try to give them away, being unable to consume them all. But that doesn’t keep us from trying! If you live in Zone 5, even exposed to Northwest winds as my house is, and if have a nice, well-drained site, I heartily recommend the Reliance Peach from Stark Bros.

I planted 3 easy start peach trees in 2018: Contender, Reliance, and Interpid. The last one did not survive the winter. But Reliance and Contender are sprouting leaves this year. Starkbros honored their warranty and provided a replacement. I love this company!

I really tried to kill this tree by forgetting it after it arrived. I went to go throw the tree away and noticed it was still alive. So I planted it. It grew beautifully and has peaches on it already. If this tree were a person, it would be that boy stuck on a raft with a tiger that made it. Seriously, buy this. You can’t go wrong.

It grew well last summer but never emerged this spring. We live in 4b and I just don’t find the hardy peaches are hardy enough for my winter.
