Pollinator required to bear fruit
A classic for a reason!
One of the most popular apples ever discovered, this heirloom variety came from Australia around 1868. Its extra-crisp texture and sassy sweet-tartness make it a natural for baking, but it’s also one of the best lunchbox apples around. Cider made from Granny Smiths adds an extra measure of tart you’ll absolutely love. The recognizable bright green apples appear on tip-bearing trees, and can even be grown in warmer climates. Keeps up to 6 months when properly stored.
Ripens in late October. Pollinator required.

How do I find my Hardiness Zone?
Canada’s Plant Hardiness Zones will tell you which plants will do well in your particular climate. Each zone is determined by the lowest average winter temperature recorded in a given area. Hardiness Zone information is included on all tree and plant product pages, so you know instantly whether a certain plant is likely to succeed where you live. Natural Resources Canada provides helpful options to find your zone:

Only one year has passed but so far, I have some branching out and leaves developing this spring.
ERIC MACHAMER –
Tree arrived in good condition and a year later is doing well. Would love to see the return of the Starkspur Granny Smith, but this will do quite fine. Love working with Starkbros

I have a homestead that I am building for my family, and grandkids.I have about 12 trees that are all “Starkspur” type, and they have done very well. They are now three years old, and were Fall season planted, which some say adds yet another growth year. I have carefully chosen cross pollinators, and used a minimal spraying program with the fruit tree spray from Stark’s. This year, in spite of a very late freeze, many trees have set fruit. I remain convinced that I have made a wise choice with the Stark Bros. nursery, as the trees have arrived in good shape, and I have planted them as recommended . I feel that the orchard will need yearly management, so why not spend this labor on the best ?.I did lose one tree to rodent damage over the Winter, and replaced that tree once again ordering from Starks. It also is doing well.

I bought two fruit trees at our local big box hardware store but they didn’t have the Granny Smith tree that I wanted, so I sent for one from Stark Brothers. I had never bought a tree this way before. When the dry, dead looking stick with roots showed up I was a little skeptical but I followed the instructions and planted it. 6 weeks later the store bought trees looked nearly identicle to when I planted them but the Stark tree had more and healthier looking leaves than either of the other two trees. A year later the tree is healthy and growing. One store-bought tree remains, the other is nearly dead. I’ll be sending for more trees from Stark.
